She has gone on the record and admitted that her struggles with alcoholism as a young teen inspired the theme of the album.

The New York native, who’s real name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, has been sober since 2004, and has been involved in a number of charities that focus on homeless outreach and drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
